A Bunch of Random Projects

This is Diane Beyonce.  She is my new model.  She doesn't say much.

Since my last post, I have been busy doing random projects. I made myself a pair of fingerless driving gloves.  After several cold mornings, I realized this wasn't such a good idea.  My palms were kept warm but my fingers were freezing cold.  I used Malabrigo yarn.  After I used the gloves a few times, they started to frizz on the ends.  This project used one skein of yarn and I finished it in one day.

This is called the Charming Hearts necklace. The pattern is located in the February 2012 Crochet World magazine.  The chain was purchased at my local bead store.  This took maybe an hour.

This is Marchelle's Crochango. The free pattern can be located on Ravelry.com. This is my first time using elastic. This was a two day project and I used one skein of Vanna White yarn.

This is the Yellow Man (inspired by Despicable Me Minion) hat by Ashley Phelps.  It is a free pattern on Ravelry.com.  Instead of the line mouth, which is in the pattern, I decided to use felt and glue the mouth onto the hat.  This was a two day project.

This project took about a week. My husband wanted me to make him this 13-inch minion.  I found this free pattern online at: http://allaboutami.tumblr.com/post/11585794742/minionpattern.  We call this guy Bob.

Here is Bob standing next to my husband Paul.  Bob's goggles and pants are removable.

I call these two the North Carolina Kids seeing that they are on their way to North Carolina.

The girl is wearing a mood ring for a bracelet and diamond earrings.  The boy is carrying a briefcase with newspaper and a pencil in the bag.  A cell phone is in his other hand. The tie is removable.

This extra long entrelac scarf is a gift for my friend's daughter. Blue is her favorite color.  I used an H hook and I Love This Yarn worsted weight.

This monkey hat was made without a pattern.  I used the same brand yarn and a J hook for the hat, then switched to an H hook for the eyes, ears, and mouth.

This project took two days. It is a cowboy hat from Crochetville.org (I think).  I used Red Heart yarn; holding two strands together and a size I hook.  After finishing the rounds, the circle felt like cardboard.  It was very stiff.

It is Friday the 27th at 10:00 pm.  I still have some more rounds to do.

I woke up Saturday morning with a sore shoulder.
I am doing a reverse half-double crochet stitch.

There's some shaping involved.

Rug Making

Like many people that knit or crochet, I had a bunch of one skein and half of a skein of yarn in various colors and not sure what to do with it, so I decided to make a rug.  I made the rug oval.  It looked pretty good and the colors worked well together. I used three strands of yarn and a size P hook (11.5mm). Different colored stitch markers were used to mark the increases and to distinguish one side from the other.

But after several rounds, the rug looked abnormal. So I thought I would make the rug into a square.  After several more rounds, one side looked square but the other side was still round.

I ended up scrapping everything and starting over making a new rectangle rug. It turned out much easier than trying to make a round one.

Our First Date

This is my husband Paul on our first date.  He had long hair back then.

His eyebrows were thick and bushy.
