I bought two patterns this month, a tank top and mittens. I worked on the top first since it was supposed to be a birthday present. The pattern was a total flop. I contacted the designer about the pattern and even drew a diagram to help explain that her pattern was incorrect. On August 15th, she sent me an email stating to "hold my work" until she got back to me. It is nearing the end of the month and the "birthday present" for the birthday girl is September 1st and I have nothing to give her but a card. So, yeah... I'm pretty pissed.
Okay, so my month was not a total waste. I had wanted a pair of cable mittens for a while now and found a pair on Ravelry.com that I liked, so I spent the money and bought the pattern for $6.50. The mittens were designed by Lisa Naskrent. The pattern is called Rugged Mountain Mittens. The pattern comes with four different styles.
It was a challenge in the beginning and I found the instructions to not be as clear as I had hoped but I eventually figured it out. I felt the instructions should have had more photos. Overall, the mittens came out the the same size and look and feel wonderful. It took just a few days to make them. Here's the finished item.
I used worsted weight I Love This Yarn Tweed from Hobby Lobby. I used two skeins and worked each mitten at the same time. I thought about lining them with fleece but they are so thick that I don't think they really need it.
